Visiting rules
Measures coronavirus for visitors
We are very welcoming to visitors. But we also care for the safety/health or our patients. That is why we from now on only allow 1 visitor per patient per day within the current visiting hours. Can your visit absolutely not be postponed, due to the situation of the patient? Discuss this with the treating physician.
To the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital applies: parents/guardians can always visit their child. If possible, however, we do ask to limit visits to 1 parent/guardian. Other visitors are temporarily not allowed. Unless there are substantial reasons and then only with explicit consent of the treating physician.
What can you do to prevent spread?
- frequently wash your hands
- cough and sneeze into your elbow
- use disposable tissues
- try to avoid touching your face as much as possible (eyes, mouth, nose)
- always wash your hands before eating (also for snacks)

- We would ask that you let the patient eat in peace during the evening meal. There are also various options for visitors in terms of eating or drinking in the hospital.
- It could be that physicians or nurses come by to see the patient during your visit. They may ask you to wait somewhere else for a while. We hope you will understand and thank you for your cooperation.
- You can use the visitors’ toilets on the nursing ward. The toilet in patients’ rooms is for the exclusive use of patients.
- We do our utmost to prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses. You can help us to do so by disinfecting your hands using hand sanitizer when visiting a patient and when you leave. You will find the hand sanitizer dispensers at the entrance to nursing wards and/or patient rooms.
- In order to ensure that the hospital is as pleasant and safe as possible for you and our staff, we have drawn up a number of standards of conduct. Everyone at the UMC Utrecht is required to comply with these.
- Further information on standards of conduct
- Smoking is not permitted in the hospital. You can smoke in special smoking shelters outside on the hospital grounds. These locations are clearly indicated.
- With a view to data protection, we only issue information on patients to their next of kin or to the contact person specified by the patient.
- You can use your cell phone in the UMC Utrecht, but not in places where this will interfere with medical equipment or disturb other people. There are prohibition signs at the entrance to these areas. You are not allowed to use your cell phone on the nursing wards. Accordingly, we would ask you to switch off your cell phone on a nursing ward.
