He has a central role in connecting disciplines to promote and anchor the integrality of interdisciplinary research and education within the UMC Utrecht and at the Utrecht Science Park, but also within the alliance of the UMC Utrecht with Eindhoven University of Technology, Wageningen University & Research and Utrecht University (EWUU alliance) and within the NFU (Dutch Federation of University Medical Centres), as chairman of the deans of the UMCs.
