Warm plea for the Innovation Clinic
Warm plea for the Innovation Clinic
“We have to organize our care in such a way that we can actually learn from each patient without losing valuable information. A so-called innovation clinic makes that possible.” Prof. Lenny Verkooijen makes a warm plea for this in a short webinar about ‘learning from implementation’, organized by the Information Council of the Dutch Health Department.
Research through innovation clinics contributes to the continuous improvement of patient outcomes as aimed by the Strategic Program Cancer at #umcutrecht. Verkooijen argues for learning from every patient. New innovative treatments for cancer are being developed at a rapid pace. Research into the translation and result of these innovations into real benefits on the treatment of the patient takes a long time.
Within the Imaging & Oncology division, the Verkooijen team developed a method that allows these innovations to be evaluated more efficiently clinically and, if they have proven to be effective, to be deployed more quickly in healthcare.
