Interdisciplinary is the solution
The motto of the partnership is "Challenging future generations. The challenges facing future generations are great, but so are the opportunities to meet them. According to EWUU, the answer lies in working together at the top level: from four institutions that complement each other perfectly. Interdisciplinary cooperation in research and education brings together people with different backgrounds who each look at an issue from a different angle, with all the benefits that brings. The "Center for Unusual Collaborations" is an example of this.

Making impact together
The focus of the collaboration is on areas where a lot of impact can be made: health, energy, food and sustainability. Preventative Health is an important topic within this. Through artificial intelligence and basic research, better techniques for early detection are being developed and it is becoming possible to prescribe medications tailored to each individual patient. This combined with improving lifestyle, will enable people to live healthier lives for longer and relieve the burden on the healthcare system. TU/e, WUR, UU and UMC Utrecht together have the necessary data, technology, knowledge and facilities to realize this.
Easy collaboration
Within the alliance, the organizations make it possible to do research or take courses at a partner institution. Employees can start using each other's labs and research equipment, and students can take courses at a partner institution. The knowledge alliance is also committed to new forms of education in which students from different institutions work on concrete issues, so-called "challenge-based learning.
