Biography

Biography

Daniela Cianci has several years of experience in clinical trials, both in industry and academia. Since 2018 she has been working at the Biostatistics and Research Support group at the Julius Center, where her focus is on design, methodology and analysis of clinical trials. Statistical methods for the analysis of microbiota data is also an area of interest. In addition she is seconded to the Medicines Evaluation Board (College ter Beoordeling van Geneesmiddelen) where she works as a methodology assessor for EMA Scientific Advice Procedures and Centralized Procedures for Marketing Authorization and at the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology where she is involved in early phases clinical trials.

Daniela obtained a master’s degree in Biostatistics at the University of Milan Bicocca (Italy), after which she moved to the Netherlands to join a PhD program at the Theoretical Epidemiology Group at Utrecht University. She worked on a European research project dedicated to investigating several components of diseases transmitted by vectors, such as mosquitoes and ticks. In her research she applied statistical models to investigate the ecology of vectors on different geographical scales. After completing her PhD she worked as biostatistician in clinical trials at Danone Nutricia Research, where she was involved in trials focused on growth patterns of infants, allergy prevention and microbiome evolution.
