Research professional leadership
The Leadership in Nursing Research aims to contribute to the knowledge and understanding of leadership in nursing and leadership of nurses in all the different arenas where nurses are working. Dr. Thóra Hafsteinsdóttir, who also is a Board member of the honor society of nursing Sigma Theta Tau International and as such works on nursing leadership in collaboration with colleagues nationally, regionally and internationally.

With the leadership program, through research on leadership in nursing we aim to positively influence the leadership development of nurses not only in academy but also in education and in the various health care facilities of the clinical arena where nurses are working. Thereby we aim to positively influence the health care outcomes of the patients that nurses are caring for.
Within this research line several research projects are conducted on various aspects of leadership and nursing:
- Leadership and mentoring programs in nursing and impact on nursing research/faculty
- Leadership development of nurses in the clinical arena
- Factors influencing leadership of nurses
- Leadership programs and interventions and their effect on nursing students
